A lucid dream is a dream state where the dreamer feels as though they are fully conscious but knows that they are dreaming. It wouldn’t affect your reality at all, as you are really asleep. It is thought that the lucid dreamer can benefit from the experience though as during the dream they can have ideas and make plans that they will remember once they are awake.

A lucid dream is a dream in which you know that you are dreaming.

In a lucid dream, it is easier for a dreamer to be able to control what happens in a dream. It is possible for people to learn how to have lucid dreams, though I’ve never managed it!

Some doctors think that it is useful for people who have really scary nightmares to learn how to have lucid dreams – that way they can control what happens in their nightmares and make them less terrifying.
