To begin with (until I was in year 8) I hated science and found it very boring. Then I had a teacher who really inspired me and I found out that I had a natural talent for it. Some bits came very easy, but there were also a lot of facts and figures to learn and that took a lot of hard work. Luckily I enjoy hard work.
It was never my strongest subject at school, I always did better at English and Maths until GCSE, then I found Science more interesting as it got split into more seperate subjects and I could concentrate on Biology and Physics (not horrible chemistry!!).
When I was younger, I found science pretty hard and didn’t enjoy it much. I was much better at arts subjects, like music, art and languages. Science classes had so many equations to remember and I just couldn’t see the point!
But when I was about 15, things just started to click and make sense. Especially in physics, where I was lucky to have a great teacher. Eventually I started to love it, and just kept on doing it…!
It’s actually still quite hard, but I find it so interesting that I don’t mind!
I liked science and maths at school but like most subjects I found some bits hard and other bits easy. Biology was the easiest for me, I enjoyed it and found it logical so that definitely helped.
Chemistry was mixed, it depended on what we were learning. I did find it easier to understand something if there was a lab practical to help us see what we were learning. I find things easier in any subject if there is a way to see it, even a diagram is really helpful.
I found physics quite difficult – I guess there weren’t enough diagrams! I do remember the Van Der Graaf generator though – that was a pretty cool demo. If you’ve not seen it I recommend looking it up!
