Apparently they move at 0.013 miles an hour!! I think I move that fast on a morning!

They move very slowly- about 7cm per hour. They are animals that have no need to move quickly as they spend their time sheltering under rocks and leaves, emerging in the dark and wet to eat the foliage that is nearby.

      Very slowly!

Slugs produce a special type of slime that help prevent the slug from slipping down vertical surfaces, so they don’t need to go too fast! This slime also protects the slug against predators as it makes the slug too slippery to pick up by a bird’s beak and the slime tastes disgusting (apparently even more disgusting than the slug itself!).

      Eurgh – I hate slugs…!

Slow but I think they speed up at night – results from an uncontrolled experiment!
When we used to get in from a night out at University we often found slugs on our kitchen floor – GROSS!!! We never saw them in the day though…..
