I have been doing science for 6 years now! I did my first degree in biomedical science and I am in the last year of my PhD now. I still don’t think of myself as a proper scientist! Someone like Simon is a proper scientist! He’s been doing lots of research, while I’ve only done a little!

I guess it depends when you decide you are a scientist! For me it was when I started my PhD – even though you are a postgraduate student during your PhD it’s like learning on the job. I started that in 2008 so that means I’ve been a scientist 5 years.

I started doing research during my degree at university, then continued during my PhD, and I am now working as a scientist.
So it has been 9 years since I started doing science research and it’s still just as exciting!
