Nuclear reactors are one of the safest facilities in the world. Governments makes lots of safety rules from the safety of people to operating the reactors safely. Nuclear reactors are made from some of the most toughest materials you’ll find anywhere in the world and are able to operate every day of the year for 60 years or more. That just shows how safe reactors really are.
There are more than 435 reactors in the world with 72 under construction. Only 1 suffered a meltdown within the last 24 years which was the one in Japan during the powerful earthquake and tsunami in 2011. Although many died as a result of the tsunami, no one died due to radiation thankfully. More people have died from oil and gas plants than at nuclear reactors.
