• Question: What do you think about the use of nuclear weapons? Is it morally right?

      I believe that nuclear weapons are morally indefensible and that no country should be allowed to have them. I can see no circumstances where their use can be justified. The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were war-crimes that have gone unpunished.

      The manufacture of these weapons is vastly expensive and that money is wasted as the weapons will never be used. Spend it on making the world a better and more equal place. When children are starving, building nuclear weapons in appalling.

      I think nuclear energy should only be used in nuclear power stations! I don’t think any weapons are good, especially nuclear ones. I understand because one country has them, other countries feel like they should have them because the other country does, but it is just stupid.

      I don’t like any weapons. I think that nuclear weapons are particularly awful as they kill so many people over such a big area. Nuclear weapons can destroy whole cities with a single bomb, meaning that mostly innocent civilians are killed. I don’t think there is ever any excuse to use these type of weapons and think they should all be safely destroyed.

      I think nuclear energy should be used for peaceful purposes like producing electricity which benefits mankind. It is unfortunate, that this huge amount of energy has been harnessed to create the ultimate destructive weapon. It’s expensive, a waste of taxpayers money (costing billions a year) and the effects of using such a weapon can last hundreds of thousands of years, not to mention killing hundreds of thousands too within the blink of an eye. I think it is morally wrong to use nuclear weapons but countries that have them tend to do so for political purposes.
