There is a vaccination out there against the human papilloma virus (HPV) that is given to girls when they are at secondary school. This virus is known to cause cervical cancer, and the vaccine stops the virus from living in cells and so preventing it causing cervical cancer.
The polio vaccine works so well because we know what causes it. Cancer caused by other (sometimes unknown) factors is hard to vaccinate for, as it is usually not just one thing that causes cancer. This used to be a very trendy area of research, but because all cancers are different, it would be very hard to have one vaccine that could be given to babies.
